Prof. Dr. Shannon Vallor is Baillie Gifford Chair in the Ethics of Data and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Edinburgh’s Futures Institute, where she directs the Centre for Technomoral Futures. Her research explores the ethical impact of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies on human character. She is a Fellow of the Alan Turing Institute and advises government and industry on ethical use and design of AI. She is author of the book Technology and the Virtues: A Philosophical Guide to a Future Worth Wanting and the forthcoming Lessons from the AI Mirror: Rebuilding Our Humanity in an Age of Machine Thinking.
